The secret to the explosive terminal performance of the V-Max® is a hollow cavity resting between the tip's shaft and the body of the bullet. Upon impact, the hard shaft builds up speed and energy before driving into the core, causing the entire package to rapidly expand to the point of violent fragmentation, even at low terminal velocities.

Fantastic projectiles.By: James on 26 October 2020The V-Max projectiles are engineered for explosive expansion and superb accuracy. They deliver on all fronts, yet truly come into their own on smaller targets. There were a few teething issues with the loading process, the lee bullet seating die i was using wouldn’t seat the projectiles down to the cannelure. It appears that it is due to the steep taper of the projectiles not engaging early enough in the seating stem. This may not be an issue with other dies, however I simply placed a 2mm shim atop the stem and it was good to go. I would highly recommend these projectiles for anyone familiar with using the lightweight high velocity JHP offerings from Sierra and Speer.
